XXO — Extra Extra Old
Aged for a minimum of fourteen years in oak barrels, XXO is the ultimate expression of cognac, an invitation to journey to the very heart of time. Its deep mahogany color with golden highlights immediately hints at the intensity to come. The nose is captivatingly complex and unparalleled: aromas of candied black fruit, dried rose, and sandalwood mingle with mysterious notes of beeswax, aged leather, and fine tobacco, all underpinned by a touch of rancio characteristic of very old cognacs, an inimitable sign of exceptional maturation. On the palate, the texture is sumptuously dense, almost oily, with a depth that seems bottomless, supported by tannins of absolute finesse before a finish that lingers endlessly on notes of dark chocolate, roasted coffee, rare spices, and old oak.
The XXO is best enjoyed in respectful silence, in a large balloon glass, without ice or any accompaniment that might betray its complexity. It is much more than a cognac—it is a liquid heritage, the testament of a house and decades of patience, to be shared only on the most solemn occasions.
